Like so many, our hearts are wrenched with sadness and outrage as we witnessed the tragic and unnecessary deaths of George Floyd, Ahmad Arbury, Dreasjon Reed, and here in the city of Louisville, the killings of Breonna Taylor and David McAtee. We stand in support of the victims and their families, and combine our voices with the resounding stand for justice in cities across our nation and world.

As Nelson Mandela declared: “to deny people their human rights, is to challenge their very humanity” – and we, as a nation, have been challenging the humanity of Black lives time and again. We have seen the outcry from the denial of people’s humanity displayed in the forms of protest, indignation, anger, and sadness. While we don’t have all the answers, we believe to be silent is to be complicit. We stand with and support our Black friends, families, colleagues, founders, mentors, and network members who are experiencing unspeakable pain throughout this time. Endeavor stands in solidarity with the Black community, and against discrimination, injustice, and inequality.

Our broken system is fully exposed as systemic racism continues to hold our nation back on multiple fronts. Despite the ravaging course of a global pandemic, which is disproportionately impacting Black communities across the country, the recent atrocities are further painful examples of why change is imperative. We all have a responsibility to use our voice to foster positive change and help chart a better path forward while inspiring others to do the same.

In addition to committing our support and solidarity, we recognize individually and collectively that there’s more work to be done. As we reflect on how to be better stewards, we commit to hold true to our values of being a borderless, One Endeavor family — which means sharing in authentic empathy for those who are hurting, calling out the reprehensible impact of racism, educating ourselves even when difficult, and committing to the ongoing work that it warrants.

We commit to listening, learning, speaking out, and acting now and in the future. From the depths comes change and that is our opportunity.
